How I Got Started

Back in 2019, I created an online business that eventually made me $100,000—this was just the starting point. Fast forward to today, and I operate a multi-million dollar blog and YouTube channel. The strategies I’ll share here were key in transforming my side hustle into a full-time business.

The problem is, this method works best for people who already have tons of traffic—whether it’s a blog, YouTube channel, or Instagram account.

To get clicks and conversions, you’ll need an audience. This strategy is more passive once you’ve built that large following, but it takes time and consistent content creation to even start earning meaningful money.

Selling Your Own Product

This could be a digital product like an online course or an ecommerce store selling physical goods. Like affiliate marketing, however, this also requires building an audience. You need people to know, like, and trust you before they'll buy from you—a process that takes time. Think months to years.

Selling Services

Selling services stands out because it’s the only method where you can jump in immediately and start making money without needing a big audience. Offering services like writing, SEO, or video editing lets you generate income quickly.

This is how I got serious about replacing my 9-to-5 job. I realized that instead of hoping to make money through passive efforts, the fastest way to quit my job was to land a few clients that paid me on a monthly basis. Even just 2-3 clients paying $2,000-$3,000 each added up quickly to replace my full-time income.

Why Selling Services is the Fastest Way to Income

When you're just starting out online, selling services is the fastest route to dollars in your pocket. It doesn’t require building a huge audience or spending years establishing your credibility. You can position yourself as a service provider today by offering something valuable that businesses already need.

This is how some of my students have taken off from zero and scaled up to $50,000 per month. They focused on client work, delegation, and management. You don’t need to be an expert—you just need to learn a skill that someone is willing to pay for.

Local businesses are often easier to target and don’t have complex digital strategies. These companies don’t need the latest cutting-edge marketing techniques—they just want more foot traffic or customers. Offering simple SEO or social media management services is enough to get started.

For these companies, targeting those in the growth stage is ideal. Companies that are a bit further along but still new enough that they haven’t built large marketing teams tend to need the type of services you can offer, like content creation or SEO.

E-Commerce Brands

For mid-sized e-commerce brands, content marketing and SEO strategies are often underdeveloped. Helping them create blogs that rank, drive traffic, and lead to conversions is hugely valuable.

Creators and Lead Generators

Another route is working with creators—like YouTubers—and service professionals, such as realtors or law firms. They understand their business but usually lack either the time or knowledge to create consistent content, optimize their funnels, or generate leads.

Outreach Strategies for Clients

Your goal is to find the right prospects, contact them, and present a compelling offer. This means you’ll need to have a targeted list of businesses. You can use tools like LinkedIn to search for companies, or tools like Hunter.io and Apollo to find email addresses.

Having the right contact info is only step one though. Next, you’ll need to send effective outreach emails.

Email Structure

Your emails should be friendly but direct. The first sentence matters a lot. Introduce yourself and include an impressive fact about your background. Even if you’re new, find a unique way to position yourself.

For example: “Hi, I’ve recently worked on optimizing local SEO for [example business] and helped them rank on page 1 in two months. I see that you’re on page 2 for [keyword].

Be specific and close with a question so they feel compelled to respond. Follow up on day four and seven because consistency matters. Don’t get discouraged if the first few emails don’t get responses—keep testing your approach.

Once you get a response, your next steps are the initial meeting, followed by sending a proposal. During the meeting, your goal is to understand what their pain points are and tailor your offer to solve their problems.

When sending a proposal, give them a tiered structure to choose from:

  • Good: Bare-bones service offering.
  • Better: Mid-tier package, which is what you’ll suggest as the best option.
  • Best: Full service that comes with all the bells and whistles.

Always aim for them to land on the middle option, which is where you’ll feel the work-to-compensation ratio is best.

One of the fastest ways to gain an edge is by using AI tools like ChatGPT to get things done quicker. You could write 10 articles a month manually or use ChatGPT to draft them in minutes and optimize them. But keep in mind that human editing is still essential to ensure quality. So, once ChatGPT generates the article, add your human touch—personalize it, edit it for context, and ensure it's ready to publish.

Once you’ve successfully sold services and began delivering them, you can start scaling your business. Here’s the key: Once you have two or three clients, you can slowly start shifting tasks to team members.
